Astronomy

Planet positions come from astronomy-engine (MIT licence), which implements the VSOP87 planetary theory and the ELP lunar theory with nutation and aberration. Positions are geocentric, apparent, true ecliptic of date. Our test suite checks results against published charts (for example Albert Einstein: Sun 23°30′ Pisces, Moon 14°32′ Sagittarius, Ascendant 11°38′ Cancer, Midheaven 12°49′ Pisces) to within arc-minutes.

Houses: Placidus (iterative semi-arc method, Porphyry fallback above 66° latitude), Whole Sign, Equal and Porphyry. Ascendant and Midheaven from Greenwich apparent sidereal time and true obliquity.
Points: mean lunar nodes, mean Black Moon Lilith, Part of Fortune (day/night formula), Vertex.
Time zones: historical IANA rules (daylight saving, local mean time) from your browser's time-zone database. Places from Open-Meteo geocoding (GeoNames).

Vedic (Jyotish)

Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, whole-sign houses from the sidereal lagna (Chandra lagna when birth time is unknown).
27 nakshatras with padas; Vimshottari dasha with 365.25-day years, to the sub-period level.
Panchang at local sunrise: tithi, vara, nakshatra, Nitya yoga, karana; Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda and Gulika from eight day segments; Abhijit and Brahma muhurta; day and night choghadiya.

The daily score

Each day, every system contributes visible factors with numeric effects on eight life areas: Western transits to your natal chart (strength by planet, orb and applying/separating), the Moon's house, lunar phase, void-of-course Moon and retrogrades; Vedic Tarabala, Chandrabala, tithi group, Nitya yoga, karana, nakshatra nature, dasha lord vs weekday lord and slow gochar; the Chinese day branch vs your pillars, the day's Ten God and element, and the Tung Shing day officer; your personal day number; and biorhythms. Effects are summed and compressed into 0-100 with a hyperbolic tangent so no single factor dominates. The consensus count shows how many systems agree.
